The Science behind HIFU.
HIFU technology delivers a digitally controlled pattern of focused ultrasound energy to multiple layers of the face at different depths
(4.5mm, 3mm and 1.5mm) to tighten the deep SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer, deep and mid-dermis.
The HIFU causes thousands of small zones of coagulation in the tissues that result in tightening,
tissue re-modelling and production of new collagen (neocollagenesis).
The image below shows that the device can deposit micro-focused zones of tissue coagulation at a specific set of depths below the skin.
The Procedure
The Aesthetician begin HIFU facial rejuvenation by cleaning the chosen area of the face and applying a gel. Then, they use a handheld device that emits the ultrasound waves in short bursts. Sessions vary on timings depending on what area you are having treated and the size of it.
Some people report mild discomfort during the treatment, and some have pain afterward. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as or ibuprofen, will help.
Unlike other cosmetic procedures, HIFU facials do not require any preparation. When a session is over, there is also no recovery time, which means that people can get on with their daily activities after receiving HIFU treatment.

HIFU FAQ
How many sessions of HIFU are required?
Only one HIFU Ultherapy treatment is required per area to get rejuvenation results, however more than one treatment can be performed on each area with 6-12 weeks between treatments one or two sessions are required.
How Long Does it Take to See HIFU Results and How long do They Last?
Immediately after your HIFU Ultherapy Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen.
Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you.
The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural ageing process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.
Can HIFU Ultherapy Replace a Face Lift Procedure?
However it is a great alternative, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How is HIFU Ultherapy Different to Laser Procedures?
