HIFU Face And Neck Treatment Procedure

Before having a HIFU procedure, you will need to remove all cosmetics and skincare products from the target area.

Here’s what to expect at your appointment:

    1. Firstly, our practitioner will clean the targeted area.
    2. They may apply a topical anaesthetic cream to make the procedure less painful.
    3. Our practitioner will then apply an ultrasound gel.
    4. The HIFU device is then pressed up against the skin.
    5. To optimize results, the practitioner will adjust the ultrasound viewer to the correct setting.
    6. Ultrasound energy is then applied to the desired target in a series of short, intense pulses for approximately 30 to 90 minutes.
    7. The device is then removed.
    8. If additional treatments are needed, you will be scheduled for another treatment.

What To Expect After Treatment

Once your treatment is done, you’ll notice that your skin will be firm and plump without any worry of downtime. In the next 6-12 weeks, you will see drastic improvements in facial contouring and a decrease in the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.

How does it work?

HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’.

Hifu is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. It uses ultrasound energy coupled with the body’s own regenerative response, to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck and the décolletage.

In doing so it creates a lifted, more taut appearance and stimulates the body to produce collagen thereby creating a more taut appearance as it stimulates collagen production and eliminates wrinkles.

Who is suitable for treatment?

A good candidate is aged 25+ who wants to reverse the effects of aging and stay looking young for much longer.

For patients in their 30s it is typically used to stimulate collagen production and help delay the ageing process.

Patients in their 40s and 50s are the most common age group who have this treatment. Patients may have noticed that the skin on their face or neck has become lax and wish to lift and tighten the relevant area.

It is also for those aged 60+ or who have had surgery in the past, it can be used to prolong to effects of surgical facelifts.

Dove Dental and Wellbeing Spa offer a free aesthetic consultation, to establish if you are suitable to have treatment.

What can be treated using HIFU?
  • Brow lifting
  • Jowl lifting
  • Mid face lifting
  • Nasolabial fold reduction
  • Neck lifting and tightening
  • Overall skin tightening and rejuvenation
  • Body contouring (targeted fat loss -belly, love handles, arms, legs, buttocks)
How long until I see results?

Clients may witness some initial effect, but ultimately lifting and firming will take place over approximately 3-9months, as collagen is renewed and replaced with new, stronger collagen. As this collagen building process continues, continued improvements can appear for up to 9 months.

How long do HIFU results last?

Most people find results last over 1 year, although yearly touch-up treatments are recommended to stay ahead of the ageing process.

Does it hurt?

Most people do not report pain. There can be slight aching over bony areas or a warm sensation in the skin during treatment.

Is it safe?

Thousands of treatments have been performed worldwide using HIFU technology without significant adverse events. In addition, ultrasound energy has been used safely in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.

Is HIFU classed as surgery?

No. While the ultrasound treatment does target the deep layer of skin often addressed in surgery, it does not involve general anaesthetic or cutting the skin in any way.

Cost of treatment?

Costs tend to vary depending on the area, experience of the practitioner and whether they are medically/dentally qualified. Most of the top clinics in London charge around £500-650 per area, of the face or body, for HIFU treatment. At Dove Dental we are currently offering treatment per area at a discounted rate of £250 per area.

Are there any side effects?

There may be slight redness following the treatment. A small amount of patients report swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch.

All potential side effects will be discussed by the practitioner prior to treatment.
