Dermal Filler Aftercare FAQ

Dermal fillers are a long-lasting treatment but not permanent. You always have the choice to change treatments and to repeat the procedure – often. Generally, people opt for a follow-up procedure within six to twelve months of the initial treatment of wrinkles. When lips have been treated, a follow-up may be required within six months. If an optimal correction is not achieved within 2 – 4 weeks, then a touch-up treatment may be necessary.
You should wait at least a week after a dermal filler treatment before getting semi-permanent makeup.
The sun is fine to be exposed to every day, but avoid the heat of sun beds and sunscreen for 48 hours after treatment.
When you are wearing dermal fillers, the urge to touch the newly treated area is strong - but resist! Touching the fresh treatment area increases the risk of infection and inadvertently moving the soft filler. It is okay to clean your face as you normally would, but be gentle. Always wash your hands before attempting to touch your face otherwise the bacteria could cause a serious infection that requires antibiotics to resolve. The injection risk has been eliminated after 3 weeks, so be patient.
Allow at least six hours after a dermal filler treatment before going swimming to be sure that the injection points are fully healed and the risk of infection is no more.
